Forklift
Alternative term: industrial truck with driver's seat
Definition:
A forklift is a motorized industrial truck that is used to lift, transport and stack loads over short distances. It is typically used in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, ports, and logistics centers.
Forklifts can be electric, diesel or gas powered and are equipped with lift masts, forks or special attachments to move various load units such as pallets, mesh boxes or barrels.
Safety and competency certificates
Drivers may only operate forklifts with valid forklift driver training (forklift license) and instruction. Due to the high risk of accidents, strict safety and line of sight rules as well as PPE requirements apply in many industrial sectors.
Areas of application & configurations
There are various types of forklifts, such as front forklifts, wheeled trucks, all-terrain forklifts and electric high-lift trucks, which are selected depending on the operating environment and load profile.

Challenges when using forklifts:
Risk due to untrained operation & unclear operating rules
Lack of training, inadequate instruction or lack of knowledge of location rules leads to accidents, personal injury and property damage — particularly in chemical and industrial sectors.
