Anti-slip mat

Anti-slip mat

Definition:

Anti-slip mats are an essential tool for securing loads in goods transport. They prevent cargo from slipping on smooth loading surfaces and thus increase safety during transport.

Advantages of anti-slip mats in freight transport

  • Increased frictional force: Due to their high sliding friction values, anti-slip mats reduce the lubricity of the load, which improves stability while driving.
  • Reduced lashing effort: The use of anti-slip mats reduces the number of lashing devices required and the required pre-tensioning force when lashing down.
  • Versatility: They can be used under almost any type of load, whether general cargo, sensitive loads or heavy transport.

Standards & technical requirements
Anti-slip mats must meet certain standards and test requirements to ensure their effectiveness. These include tested coefficients of friction in accordance with DINEN 12195-1 as well as load capacity, material strength and aging resistance.

Indication of correct application and limitations
For optimal effectiveness, anti-slip mats must be clean, undamaged and suitable for the load. They do not replace complete load securing, but complement lashing devices such as straps or chains.

Challenges when using anti-slip mats:

Unclear or missing information about load securing requirements at the site
Transport partners often only know upon arrival whether anti-slip mats are mandatory or which specifications apply. This leads to delays, discussions at the gate and potential safety risks if the load is incorrectly secured.

Lack of standardization & different requirements per customer/location
Depending on the shipper, different coefficients of friction, material qualities or documentation may be required, which creates uncertainties for drivers and dispatchers.

Loady's solution:

Make clear, location-specific and product-related requirements visible
Loady ensures that requirements such as “anti-slip mats required” or “coefficient of friction ≥ 0.6” are clearly communicated before the start of the journey. Drivers and freight forwarders receive the information early and in a structured form.

Reducing discussions & waiting times at the factory gate
Through transparent information on load securing obligations, misunderstandings are avoided. Transport partners can prepare and meet compliance requirements without delay.
