Driver Briefing
Definition:
A driver briefing is a mandatory safety briefing for drivers of vehicles and means of transport that are used in a professional context. It is used to inform drivers about safety-related topics, risks, protective measures and rules of conduct.
The instruction is part of occupational safety and must be carried out and documented regularly — at least once a year — in accordance with legal requirements.
In addition, truck drivers at locations with particular risks, for example when handling dangerous goods, self-loading/self-loading or when entering KRITIS locations, must receive company-specific training by the site operator.
Duty to provide training under Occupational Health and Safety Act/UVV
Driver instruction is based on legal requirements such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG), DGUV regulations and ADR regulations on dangerous goods instruction.
Multilingualism & comprehensibility
Clear, multilingual and visual instruction is important in international supply chains to avoid misunderstandings and ensure safety.

Challenges in carrying out driver instructions:
Inconsistent and often manual instruction processes
Many companies use paper-based or uncoordinated training systems. Content is often not standardized, difficult to understand, or not multilingual — which can lead to misunderstandings, security risks, and compliance violations.

Evidence requirements and lack of documentation
Instructions must be documented in a legally secure manner. Without digital and verifiable systems, there are gaps in evidence to authorities or site operators, which can lead to delays or denial of access.
